Why Shkodër Is Good for Photography

Shkodër has an unusually varied landscape for a relatively compact city.

To the south and west you have the enormous Lake Shkodër.

To the east you have the rivers and lowlands.

To the north and northeast the landscape rises toward the Albanian Alps.

And above the city is Rozafa Castle.

This creates excellent opportunities for photographs with layers.

The castle is particularly useful because of its elevated position.

Shkodër is also one of Albania’s strongest cities for street photography. The city has a long cycling tradition, and bicycles are still a characteristic part of everyday life.

The surrounding countryside is green and the mountains can still have snow.
