Tyresta National Park is one of the best places near Stockholm for forest photography, lake photography, wildlife, autumn colors and Scandinavian wilderness photography.
Only about 20 kilometers from central Stockholm, Tyresta feels surprisingly remote. The landscape is dominated by ancient pine and spruce forest, rocky outcrops, moss-covered ground and beautiful forest lakes. The national park is particularly interesting for photographers because it contains both old-growth forest and the dramatically different landscape created by the major forest fire of 1999.
For a travel photographer, Tyresta is not really about finding one spectacular viewpoint. Instead, the photographic opportunities are spread throughout the park.
You can spend a morning photographing twisted old pines, walk through moss-covered primeval forest, photograph reflections at a forest lake and finish the day with golden light through the trees.
